Day 5: I am Thankful for Secret Escapes
Tonight Conner came with me to the church so he could practice on the piano while I set up for Primary tomorrow. Since it's our program I was putting names on the chairs and it took awhile. He's getting pretty good and loves it. We were there for an hour and when we came home at 9pm the other kids were in bed and Neil whispered why don't you take him to Menchies, our new favorite treat spot. It was late but when I saw how excited Conner was I got excited. Neil and I have talked about how we each need to have more one on one time with each kid and had decided that once a week we'd trade off taking one of the kids out by themselves. We may go get a treat, do an activity, go to the toy store or just go somewhere to talk. Tonight was the first night we did it and I told Conner we were going on a secret escape and he could not tell his brothers, which concerned him because he wanted them to get a treat too but I told him they'd get to have their own little adventure soon by themselves. Conner went a little crazy at Menchies. It's a self serve frozen yogurt/sorbet shop with 10-12 different flavors that change constantly and probably over 40 toppings. You can taste test as many flavors as you want too for free. I really love getting the fruity sorbets with fresh fruit. They have something called gobbas I think that are fruity and just pop in your mouth. I love them. Conner wanted to get all the flavors but when you're paying by the ounce it really adds up. He ended up deciding on 5 flavors and got tons of toppings. We talked about school and piano and his brothers and whatever. It was fun and Conner was jumping off the walls from both excitement and sugar. I can't wait for 2 more weeks when I get to take another kid out. Who will it be?

What an awesome idea! Conner is such a cute kid, worried for his brothers missing out on a treat.
