Day 20: I am Thankful for Talents

I am so thankful for talents and interests. I know so many times I covet other people's talents and just wish I could sing, or be more organized, more crafty, more outgoing, etc. that I don't realize my own talents. I know that I am a good listener. I may not have anything to say in response or advice but I do listen well and sometimes that's all people need is someone to listen to their troubles and sympathize. I also enjoy sewing. I can't say I'm excellent at it but I think I'm pretty good and I just love it. For the life of me I can not put in a decent zipper. Sewing brings me so much happiness. If only I would start and finish all the projects I have in my head. I love making the kids costumes every year and dread the day when my kids don't want me to make theirs but then I think about my grandkids. There will always be someone to sew for. Neil and I have been asked to be a Ma and Pa for our stake youth trek this summer and last night was the first fireside and they asked us all to dress like pioneers so in one and half evenings I whipped out a pioneer dress for myself and it only cost $8.50 to make. I was in a hurry and made a lot of mistakes that probably only I would notice but it was so nice to dress the part and be able to do it without spending an outrageous amount of money. I hope one day to take more sewing classes and learn how to drape and create my own patterns and hopefully put a perfect zipper in.
