Day 16: I am Thankful my Wonderful Mom

I am thankful for my wonderful Mom who loves me so much. Still when I'm really sick I want my mom, even though she's 3,000 miles away and Neil when he doesn't know what to do with me will get my mom on the phone. My mom supported all my activities growing up chaperoning almost all our school and band events. She was cool though so us kids never minded. My mom is one of my greatest examples of service. She is always helping someone else and usually without being asked. She always magnifies her callings in the church even when her health is not good. She loves her family. I talk to her usually once a week. Even though she only sees my kids once a year usually she is very involved in their lives, sending little notes, treats and packages throughout the year and talking to them on the phone so that she knows them and they know her. My mom is a strong woman and I am so thankful for all the effort she put into raising me. I'm not sure if I believe it but her and my dad tell me that I was a holy terror as a child, throwing tantrums that were out of this world. My mom says some mornings she would wake up hearing me in the other room and plead with my dad to go get me because she just couldn't do it. I now feel her pain as I'm struggling with my own children and now understand how much patience, love and consistency it takes to raise a hard child. She never gave up on me and was consistent and seeked a lot of help and look how well I turned out. I'm the complete opposite of what that child was like. I keep telling myself there is hope for Mikey. We're going on our fourth day of Happy Mikey. My mom has taught me to be a mom and for that I am grateful.

Amy, reading your blog makes all those childhood struggles more than worth it. Look what a truly wonderful daughter, wife, and most importantly a mother you have become. I was the one blessed when you came into this world!!! Oh, how I love you!!!!

So true! If it was MY post (and this is actually Kelly!) I would have wondered when the day is coming to be thankful for the most amazing, brilliant, intelligent, creative, and modest older sister...LOL
