Unexpected Georgia Trip

My dad has been very sick for a long time and we never really knew it. All of it caught up with him and he was put in ICU on May 17th. The doctors realized he had congestive heart failure and the arteries to his heart were very blocked and he needed a triple bypass heart surgery but would not be able to have it done for several days because his body was in such bad shape, kidneys, lungs, heart, etc. On the 22nd I got a call that things were not looking good so within 10 minutes I had my bag packed and I was on the way to the airport. I had some vouchers on Frontier I was able to use so my tickets did cost very much. All the of the my siblings were able to come home to support my mom. My aunt and uncle and my mom's best friend Sheryl also arrived. There was much uncertainty but it was nice to be together as a family without the distractions of all the little ones. I was home for 11 days. My dad ended up getting a pace maker as well as the heart surgery. He was in the hospital for a total of 37 days and was just recently released. He still has a long road ahead of him. We're going back July 14th and I hope he's recovered enough to enjoy the kids. My sweetheart was quite the trooper. He became Mr. Mom on the fly. We were blessed that Neil has a ton of sick days he was able to use. Usually when I'm gone I have everything prepared and ready to go but not this time. He never complained, until I got back, about how hard it really was. He really is amazing and the most wonderful husband a girl could ask for. I'm thankful for the friends and family who helped or just offered. It means a lot to me. Neil was determined to do as much of it on his own as he could and he did a great job!
