A.A.Bahr Reunion

Linda emailed us a couple weeks ago about the A.A. Bahr reunion that was going to be held in Midway on June 25th. We'd be camping so I told her we were in. Neil ended up having to go on a scout campout last minute so I decided to take the kids by myself. I knew everything would be great except for getting Lucy to sleep at night. Linda was there to help me with the kids. We stayed on a dairy farm so we got to see a bunch of cows getting milked and a baby calf getting a bottle. There were lots of things for the kids to do including a zip line, rope swing, croquet, lawn golf, baseball, not to mention just exploring. The boys had a great time. For dinner on Friday there was spaghetti a Hibbert favorite. There were so many sweets and I let the kids go overboard. I figured they were going to be up late no matter what why not indulge. After dinner Linda and I got the tent put up and all the beds made. I tried to lay Lucy down at 8:30 in the pack and play but she was not going to have any of it so I let her stay up. At nine the boys wanted to watch the movie they'd brought so I put it on and Lucy crawled all over the place. At 10:15 the dvd player battery died and the boys went right to bed so it was now time to get Lucy to sleep. By this time she was overly tired. I put her in the pack and play and she just screamed at the top of her lungs. I let her cry thinking she'll eventually tire herself out. Nope. At 11:15 I realized she was not going to stop crying so I got her out and went into the van and I locked her in her carseat. She eventually calmed down and fell asleep. I tried to sleep in the driver seat with no luck. I kept worrying about if the boys woke up and I wasn't there they'd start freaking out. So at about 12:30 I put Lucy in the tent in her carseat. I was able to sleep about 2 hours when Mikey woke up in a rage for whatever reason which woke Lucy up so back in the van we went at 2:30am. By 3am I think she was asleep again. I tried to sleep in the back seat but with little luck. At 5am Lucy woke up again and would not calm down. At 5:30am I saw someone get up so I thought I could get Lucy out of the van. Linda got up a little before 6am and took Lucy so I could get ready for the day. For a little girl who got very little sleep she was pretty happy most of the day. She did fall off a chair onto the concrete and has a goose egg on her forehead and a little black eye. Linda took care of Lucy most of that day so I could play with the boys. I felt bad because it kept her from visiting with her relatives but she said she didn't mind. First we played baseball and I was surprised at how good Mikey could hit the ball once he caught on. Mikey never wanted to stop playing. I played a game of Set with Sam and he beat me. Then I played a round of Skipbo with Conner and he skunked me and then I played lawn golf Conner and I won. I needed that win for my ego. We ended the day with a water gun fight which felt good in the hot sun. By this time it was time to pack up and get Conner back in time for a birthday party. Even though I didn't sleep I'm glad we went. It was nice to spend some one on one time with each of the boys.

Conner going down the zipline

This was like a carnival ride. There were little rocket ships the kids sat in and then you had to push them around. Lincoln Bahr and I pushed the kids for a little bit. I definitely got my exercise in for the day.
