Everyone knows how I love a good deal and so I have been anxiously waiting for Target to have their 70% toy clearance. I knew it was going to be today so I went last night and scoped it out. There were several lego sets I wanted (they went down to 50%) to get for the boys for birthdays and Christmas next year. There were some little things for Lucy and a storytime Belle doll I wanted to get. I was tempted to hide some of the toys but there was plenty so I thought I would be fine. My plan was to get all the kids ready and be there when they opened at 8 but the boys slept in so I wasn't able to go until 8:45. I start walking to the toy aisle and there are two single file lines of carts, at least 20 and I thought wow Target has already gotten everything off the shelves and I get to dig through the carts. No one else was going through the carts so I thought I had scored but as I started to look through the first cart a man came up to me and told me that they were his carts. Seriously! All 20+ of those carts are yours. You've got to be kidding me. I make my way to the toy section and the shelves are practically cleared. I was so mad. On my way back out I stopped by the man and asked if I could get just one lego set for my son's birthday and he said no. By now I was furious. I only wanted a few things and I knew these guys were just going to go resale the items on ebay or something. Really who needs 3 overflowing carts of Zhu Zhu pets. The selfishness. I was hoping that Riverdale might have something so I headed there and as I pulled in their was a Uhaul trailer and guys with carts and carts of toys. I was fuming. Once again nothing was left for the rest of us. I was so mad I was almost in tears. I called Neil who was busy at work and he told me lesson learned, we'll be there early next year. I called my mom and vented and also a friend. I was so upset that my mom went down to Valdosta (although she said she had to go down anyway) to see if anything was there and they had a ton of stuff. She bought me 10 lego sets so we are set for birthdays and at quite the deal! Anyone who is a lego fan knows how expensive they are so getting a $50 set for $25 is awesome. Luckily Allison is going out this spring and my parents are coming out in the fall so they don't have to be shipped. Once again Nana to the rescue and don't worry the check is in the mail.
The week after Christmas we laid low and just let the kids play with their new toys but boy was it a mess. It was a disaster, more so than usual. We began to ask the boys to clean up and no one would for very long. After several days of not cleaning when asked we were fed up and when they went to bed instead of the toy monster coming out the toy bulldozer came out. The toy monster will just take the toys that aren't put away each night but the bulldozer took everything in sight, even the toy organizers and drawers. They had NO toys to play except for the few little ones that were hid in their beds. Oh goodness, so many tears were shed. I would describe Sammy as weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. Conner was upset but after he thought about it he told me that they deserved it and he actually thought it was a good idea and said now it would be so easy to do his chores. He got it. The other two didn't. There friends came over to play and the boys told them they had no toys to play with but they still found stuff to do, pillow fights, hide and go seek. It's been a week and they have earned back their legos and last night they got their hero factory guys. I'm loving it. The house has actually been clean except for Lucy's toys. I think I'm going to keep the toys locked up for quite a bit longer.
Lucy scares us everyday by trying to choke herself with food. The other day somebody left the fridge open so she helped herself to a clementine and actually peeled it herself (the boys won't even do that) and proceeded to shove the whole orange in her mouth at once and chew it. She had juice running down her chin and was loving every minute of it. Last night we got a free dozen of krispy kremes because the boys did awesome on their report cards and she once again shoved a whole donut in her mouth and kept pushing it in until she could chew it in hopes she'd be able to get a second one for finishing her first so fast. I don't even want to tell you how many grapes she puts in her mouth at once. Like the boys before her, she likes her mouth to be full.
