Happy Moments Today

Church is always hard for the boys. Mikey only took one nap on Saturday and was so tired on Sunday and needed a nap and was letting everyone know it. I took him out for the last half of sacrament and walked around the halls with him in the stroller hoping he'd fall asleep but no so I had to go Sunday School with him wide awake and there were no seats on the end of the rows so to my horror I had to climb over everyone and sit in the middle knowing I'd have to get right back out. He did okay for about 5 minutes and then he started crawling under everyone's chairs and crying when I pulled him up. There was a man sitting beside me and Mikey went for his scriptures. I grabbed Mikey fast knowing he'd probably rip them but the man said it was okay and from then on became Mikey's best friend. He kept Mikey entertained for the whole 45 minutes. I was amazed and so grateful. I actually enjoyed Sunday School for once. Afterwards I thanked the man so much with tears in my eyes. He said no problem, he had 8 kids and knows how hard it can be at times with little ones. His name was Ken Bishop. He turned my dreaded Sunday into a very happy one.

Mikey took about 5 steps on his own today. We were in the kitchen and he was sitting on the floor begging for some food. I was a couple of feet away and he stood up on his own and took about 5 little steps toward me. The first time ever without any help or prompting. He's on his way. I just started clapping and cheering and he seemed to be pretty pleased with himself. Once they start walking they are no longer babies. He's getting to be a big boy!

Tonight we had sweet and sour meatballs over rice. While Conner is eating his dinner he turns to Neil and says, "Daddy, Mommy makes the best food." Yeah another winner! I guess that makes up for the other 5 times this week when he told me, "I don't like that."

We went on a Sunday drive tonight to look at lights. My VT companion called to remind me that Layton City Park had a bunch of lights you could drive through as well as Ogden so after dinner we went to see and it was sure worth it. Last year we went to Thanksgiving Point's lights and Layton's were just as good and free just not as many. It was so fun. They had all kinds of animals and scenes. In Ogden's park they have a Christmas village set up with probably 50 little houses with different scenes or vendors and lots of lights. So cute. I was so glad my companion thought of us since we're new and don't know all the happenings around town.

I filled up the van Saturday for $1.27. I can't get over the prices. Now is the time for a roadtrip. Too bad I don't have anywhere to go.
