Candy Houses
As mentioned, I don't enjoy decorating my house, pumpkins, gingerbread houses etc. I just wasn't blessed with that creative gene. Show me a picture and I'm a real good copier but to me up with it myself I just struggle so I always dread that part of holidays. Neil's family decorated candy houses every year and he has such fond memories of it that he wanted to do it this year. Since I was already making gingerbread for the Relief Society's Social I went ahead and made some cutouts for our family. When the day finally came, Neil called to say his mom had invited all the grandkids up to her house to make candy houses. Yeah, I was saved. So we headed down to Salt Lake to join in the fun. Gma Hibbert sure over did it with the candy. It was worse than Halloween but the kids were in heaven. She made the basic box house by dipping the graham crackers in melted sugar and getting the sides up for the kids and then they got to go to town with the frosting and candy. The boys ate more candy than they put on their houses but oh well. Everyone had a great time and a tradition I hope the grandparents want to keep up!
