Lucy's 4th Birthday

Oh my Lucy Goosey finally turned four!  She knew her birthday was after Christmas and has been counting down the days since.  She is at the age where she is happy about anything and everything.  She just wanted cereal for breakfast and after taking the boys to school she wanted to take a bath to play with her new bath paints.  I wanted to take her out for lunch but almost had to drag her out the door kicking and screaming because she just wanted to stay home and have macaroni and cheese.  She is quite the home body.  Once we got to Pizza Pie Café she was glad to be there and when we sat down she just had to shout out, "Hey everybody, it's my birthday!"  So cute.  She really wanted to get ice cream but we were all so stuffed I told her dad would take her on a special date later to get ice cream.  She told everybody she gets to go on a date with her dad.  She also insisted on being called Birthday Girl.  If I said, "Hey, Lucy let's do this." she would say, "Mom, you have to call me Birthday Girl today not Lucy."  Yes m'am.  The Gambles came over for dinner and cake.  Lucy wanted hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner.  3 out of the 4 kids wanted this for their birthday dinners this year.  Apparently we don't make that enough.

The goofy boys.
I would have taken Lucy anywhere for her birthday but all she wanted to do was hit a pinata.  Of course I put it off until the day before and after 3 attempts finally got this one made.  It lasted through 5 kids.
Eliza had to get a hit or two in.
Lucy wanted a My Little Pony Cake with Twilight Sparkle on it.

I couldn't wait for her to cut into the cake and see the inside.  It was so fun.  Too bad I had to make a white cake to color it pink and purple so it wasn't the tastiest but it looked cool.
I love to sew but rarely make anything for my kids and I really wanted to make Lucy something and decided on an apron because she is now the official dinner helper.  Every night if she sees me in the kitchen, she gets a spoon out and is ready to stir.  She surprised the other day when she was helping to make a soup and was stirring the butter to make a roux that once the butter melted she asked if we were going to add flour.  She knew the steps.

Here's a video of her opening her apron.  At :45 is when she gets so excited and what I wanted to share.  That's how Lucy is about everything.  Just is excited about life.  For instance when she went in for her well child visit she was so excited to go to the doctor and when the nurse asked if I wanted her to get her shots I said yes and Lucy began jumping up and down, clapping and dancing around the room repeating she's getting a shot.  So happy about it just like in the video but that did not last very long once she got the first poke

Deet got her a bunch of nail polish (washable thank goodness) and she spends the better part of the days painting and repainting her nails.  There was a bunch of glitter included but after the first spill that quietly ended up in the garbage can.  Mikey is such a good sport and is always willing to play whatever with Lucy.

Finally on her special date with her dad.  He sure eats her up and thinks she is the cutest thing ever.

I just love my Lucy!  We waited a long time to finally have a girl and what a girl she is.  She is spunky and sassy and sweet all at the same time.  If there is one word I would use to describe Lucy it would be DETERMINED.  She knows what she wants and she's going to go for it no matter how impossible it may seem.
