Ice Cream Social

For our relief society meeting this week we had an ice cream social.  Everyone who showed up (15 of us) were divided into 5 groups and we had a bag with ice cream, spoons and toppings and went to visit one of 5 prearranged sisters.  I got to go visit Lola McFerson, a recent widow.  It was such a delightful visit and I feel so blessed to have went.      Ever since my experience with the Bahr's I just love the elderly and miss getting to know them.  Neil and I have wanted to somewhat adopt one for awhile and I think our prayers have been answered.  Lola's husband passed away 6 months ago and she is so lonely.  I loved hearing her talk about her husband and seeing the love, admiration and respect she has for him.  At my stage in life I can't imagine the time when it will just be just Neil and I at home and what life will be like then.  As we were leaving Lola said she didn't imagine she would have so much fun.  She sent me a thank you card for visiting her and looked forward to meeting my family.  How thoughtful, kind and gracious.  I'm going back this Thursday with the tribe.  I couldn't convince her to come over for dinner but I better get a yes at our next visit.
