What Sam Wants He Often Gets

Within reason that is. I don't know what it is about Sam but he is just so stinkin' cute most of the time and we have so much fun with him. He just loves life and enjoys exploring so on Tuesday when he woke up and asked if we could go to the train museum and just pleaded I had to give in. It definitely wasn't in the plan for the day. I had planned to clean and do some laundry but it didn't take me long to realize that stuff can wait but childhood can't so after we dropped Conner off for school Sam, Mikey and I were on our way. It was so nice just having the two of them. I can see why couples stop at two kids. It's totally manageable and not nearly as frustrating. We had 1 1/2 hours to spend there which was just enough time. Sam got his fill of the model trains and then just climbed and climbed on the real trains outside. Of course he cried when it was time to go as always.

On Saturday I got to go to the Salt Lake temple with my dear friend Kristin. It was so nice to catch up and have a couple hours without the kids. Sam woke up and wanted to go to the Dinosaur park so I asked Neil if he'd take them since he'd never been. We have passes to it. Of course there were so many things he wanted to get done but he ended up taking them and had a blast. It was a beautiful day, only in the 70's. Peek a Boo I see You
Umm, I got up here but how am I going to get down
I think this is such a cute picture of Sam. We rarely get any good ones of him

The sign says World's Most Dangerous Creatures. Ain't that the truth!
Later that night, Neil was able to go to the Bountiful temple, the temple we were sealed in. I still haven't back to that one since our wedding day. Since Sunday was the next day, I really wanted to get the house clean, it had been such a busy day we just never got back to it but when I started to do the dishes Sam came up to me and asked to please watch Nemo with them. It was on tv so I agreed and got to snuggle my Sam.
A funny story about Sam. You know that kid will do anything for a treat. He lives for them. Well I can get my kids to usually eat all their dinner because at the end if they did they get a treat. It's usually something small like a smartie or dum dum but it doesn't matter it's a treat. I am part of this produce coop and every 2 weeks I get a basket of produce for cheap. I never know what I'm going to get but it's always pretty good and it's a great way to try new things I normally wouldn't buy and we really try to eat it. Well last week I got an acorn squash in the basket. I've never had it and am not a huge fan of squash but Neil is so I had to cook it. I baked it with a little bit of butter and brown sugar. It was the last thing on Sam's plate and I told him if you want your treat you need to eat it. So as he's putting it to his mouth he is saying oh this is so yummy, I love it and then he sticks it in his mouth and it hits his tongue and his expression totally changes. He looks at me and his eyes are starting to water but he continues to chew. He begins to gag but continues to chew. He is determined to get it down. He swallows and takes another bite but this time as he swallowed he totally hurled all over himself. I started laughing so hard. That kid and his treats. He really will do anything. Of course I didn't make him eat anymore. It wasn't bad, but definitely not my favorite. Neil loved it but I knew he would.

Conner did great at school after a rough start on Monday. On Tuesday, when I picked him up he told me he was really glad he went to school that day so it seems like Monday was just a weird day for some reason. So he's beginning to adjust. Thursday we spent an hour doing his homework, it shouldn't take that long but Conner takes his time and wanted to draw a lot of pictures. There are 4 other boys in his class whose birthdays are this month. I'm so curious if they are all 4 right now too. I know Conner is totally my son. I bought him some addition and subtraction workbooks at Target that were in the dollar bins. He loves them and every day sits down to do the problems for fun! That's my boy. Does anyone remember when I was in high school and would do geometry proofs for fun on the weekends. Can I just say we are both math nerds.

That is a GREAT picture you got of Sam. I love reading your blog. Definitely one of my favorites. Love the pictures and the stories. Sundays will probably be my only nap day now, too. :(
