Neil and I got callings today so we are excited to start feeling a part of the ward. We were waiting outside the bishops office so Neil could meet with them and the bishop came out who I had not met yet being as this was only the second Sunday I've been to church (sick kids two Sundays, general and stake conference) so we shook hands and as Neil went with his counselor he said Sister Hibbert I'd like to talk to you so I go into his office and chit chat. Then he says I'd like to extend to you a calling as YW secretary. I'm like great. Then he says the President doesn't know that I'm extending this call to you. She has submitted several names and none of them were right. She just gave me another one as I came out of my office and looked at it and knew it wasn't right and then I looked up and you were sitting there and it's been confirmed to me that you should be the secretary. They've been without a secretary for 5 weeks now but since you haven't been at church no one has been able to get to know you. It's amazing how the Lord works. So I've always said I'd be scared to death to work with the Youth. The bishop said they are good girls a lot are just struggling. The great part of the calling as Neil puts it, all the fun and none of the responsiblity. I just have to be there kind of like a floater, but don't have to teach or plan. It's weird, Neil's always been the one gone at night, now it will be me. Just this month I have 8 things in the church I will be gone in the evening for. Kind of crazy. Is Neil going to be able to put the kids to bed on time. That's what I'm worried of.
Neil was called to be the 12-13 year old Sunday school teacher. I think he is really excited. He loves to teach and he loves the youth. The blessing from all this I hope is that we'll definitely know who to get to babysit. They told us we can bring Mikey in with us to our classes. I think that could be a bigger disruption but we'll have to see.

I just found your blog from Leanne Johnson's. I didn't know you guys had moved too. It seems like a lot of people have moved or are moving out of that ward. YW Secretary is a fun calling! You'll like it.
I'm glad they got you callings so soon, I don't like being in between either. I JUST got VT people this last week...how long have I been here?!?!
Danny and I are the 14-15 sunday school teachers, it's a fun age. If you can get them to stop talking...I guess Neil's got younger ones maybe they'll be better :D
I think those callings will be a perfect fir for both of you! I am jealous that you get so many evenings "off." Good luck Neil!
Awesome how the Spirit worked on the Bishop. You'll do great Amy. The YW are always looking for their leaders to be friends, so just be that, and they'll love you.
I'm glad you got a calling. It helps a lot in making new friends.
Just be sure to leave good instructions for bedtime with Neil for the first bedtime, and then don't worry the rest of the time. Come what may, and love it.
