My cousin Katie got married on August 27th in Boise at 7pm. Being as I don't get to see my family very much, especially my extended family I decided I was going no matter what. The day did not go well so it's amazing we made it. The boys had played in the car in the morning and left the lights on so the battery was dead. Neil jumped it and I went to the store to get wrapping paper and a few things for our road trip. When I went to start the car again it was dead. Neil had to come and jump it making him a little late for the game he had to coach. I drove to the game and when it was time to leave the car was dead again. Luckily there were some really nice strangers who helped push my car so it could be jumped yet a third time. I'm sure that's not good for the car. We had soccer games until 12:30 so we rushed home and Beka and Matt were waiting to watch the kids for us. We were supposed to leave by 1 but didn't hit the road until 1:30. We were cutting it close but made great time on the road and arrived in enough time to grab a quick bite to eat and make it for the wedding. Katie was beautiful and so nervous. It was a nice ceremony and the reception was great and really heated up when the Chicken Dance was played. It is a family tradition in the Mathern Family and it has been played at all the weddings. Everyone got out on the dance floor for it. So fun! It was so nice to be able to see my uncles and visit with my Mathern cousins. I love my family. We need to have a Mathern reunion. It's been too long. I was glad to be able to share that day with them. It was also very fun to be able to spend 11 uninterrupted hours in the car with Neil and just talk and plan. I was being called to the Primary Presidency the next day and felt like I should be there so we pulled ourselves away from the fun and left around 11:30pm. We were so tired so at about 3am we pulled over and took a 2 hour nap. It was enough to get us home. We made it home around 5:30 and crashed for a few hours before church. We were zombies but it was so worth it.
