They weren't too happy about having to walk to school. Their classes meet at opposite ends of the school so it is quite a ways to drop Conner off and then Sam. It's good for them and momma definitely needs all the exercise she can get.

First Day of School 2011
Today was Sam's first day of kindergarten and Conner's first day of 2nd grade. I don't think you could find more excited kids anywhere. They had a hard time falling asleep last night and were up at the crack of dawn. Since they got up so early I made them do their morning chores before school and they didn't grumble too much. They wanted pancakes with fruit salad for breakfast. They got to pick out their outfits. Sam got a new backpack, Lego Star Wars of course. Sam's teacher is Mrs. Kagi. It's her third year teaching. She first read a story to the kids and played a name game then she met with all the parents while the kids played on the playground and that was it. He goes back this week to get tested and he doesn't go back until next Monday. He was pretty bummed because no one played with him on the playground. The two girls he knows from church would not play with him and told him that they don't like boys so he dug by himself. He said he still had fun though. I assured him it was only the first day of school and that I'm sure he'd make some friends in the coming days. That's one of the huge differences between Conner and Sam. Conner is happy to play by himself and Sam wants to play with other people. Conner's teacher is Mrs. Schofield. His classroom is in the portable with the orange door. He really liked it but his one complaint was that they had to go to the bathroom and get a drink of water before they could go to recess since there is no bathroom in the classroom and that cut into his play time. His lunch is at 11:2o so I know he's not going to be too hungry because he eats breakfast at home around 7:30, then he'll eat breakfast at school at 8:45 and then lunch 2 1/2 hours later. He was really excited that his table got two points today for being so good.
I got a babysitter since I have Jac and Presley this week and I wanted to be with just these two on their first day. Conner wanted me to just drop him off at the door and said he'd walk home by himself. Since D track was the only track getting out early there would be no kids from our neighborhood to walk home with so I told him I'd pick him up and he wasn't too happy with that. He's growing up too fast. He's not going to be my little boy much longer.

Fun to read about your first day :) Ethan and Hyrum still get worried about not having anyone to play with at recess. Hang in there Sammy!
