I took all the kids to get their teeth cleaned last week. Everything was fine when we left but when we got home the boys went downstairs to play and they came up frightened telling me that the basement was all wet. I go downstairs to find water gushing in from the window in the bedroom. I run and turn off the water to the house but that didn't do anything. I ran outside to see where the water was coming from and the grass was soaked but I could not find the source. I don't know much about the workings of the house. I called Neil and he didn't answer. I called Linda and she didn't answer. I was beginning to panic and the boys could tell I was scared so they recommended we pray. (They've definitely gotten down the need to pray when we're in trouble.) We each said a prayer and the boys went outside to investigate while I got a hold of Linda. Whenever we need help we call Linda. She always knows what to do. As I was talking to her Conner ran in and said he found the gushing water. It was coming out of the green irrigation box that had been covered up with a tarp and a ton of wood chips. Linda told me to turn off the sprinkler main and that stopped it but not before most of the basement was covered in water. I began taking everything upstairs and realized Neil was no help and we had a heavy treadmill to get up the stairs so I got up the courage to call my friend Amy (and it was her birthday) because her husband is usually home and they came over after her birthday lunch to help. She is seriously an angel as well as her husband. Linda and Kim came up to help too interrupting their day . We got everything out and the disaster people came and cleaned it up. We're waiting for the pad to be replaced and then we can have our playroom back. There's a little damage to the wall that I think we can do ourselves. I was very emotional that day and was a wreck. In perspective it's not that big of deal but my hormones were out of control. What really stinks is that we just finished the basement two months ago but the biggest blessing is that it didn't happen while we were in Georgia for two weeks. Can you just imagine what that would have been like?
