Day 15: Pumpkin Patch and Monster Mash

We started the day cleaning the house. The boys had until 9:45 to get their chores done and to be dressed in soccer clothes otherwise they would not get to have their countdown surprise today. We had an episode last night where they almost lost privileges so they got to work as soon as they got up and we were already to go. We were so busy cleaning that we didn't eat breakfast. So we had to stop at our favorite donut shop, Madbrooks to get a sugar high.

Then it was off to the pumpkin patch. J&J nursery provides you with free pumpkins if you bring a canned good so it's a great deal. We went a little later in the season this year so there wasn't as much of a selection but we still got some great pumpkins.

Lucy loved having her own pumpkin and never let go of it.

Our Spoils

Neil was in heaven as he walked around the nursery. I think it made him feel like his dad. They kids always love looking at the fish.

We then rushed to our last soccer games of the season and they both happened to be at the same time. Mikey just kicked the ball around the whole game. He can't wait to play on a team. That boy was made to run. We came home for lunch and I am happy to report we finished off all the leftovers for the week. Mikey and I laid down for a nap and I let Conner and Sam play on the computers. Conner's teacher gave us some new websites to go to so I let them check them out. After naps, Neil was feeling lazy and really wanted to stay home and watch Ghostbusters but I pretty much guilted him into sticking to the plan which was to go to Kaysville Monster Mash, another free event. We decided to go in costume but since I haven't even started this years costumes we just wore our capes and painted a mask on our face.

There were lots of activities/games for the kids. Here they are painting their pumpkins. Me and Lucy were off listening to story time. There was no way I was letting her near paint.

I just like this shot from behind of their capes. I knew they would come in handy.

Our super hero family. When the boys asked what a Monster Mash was I told the boys that there would be monsters at the event and their job as super heroes was to mash/destroy them. They were on the lookout all night and never found a monster. That was a little disappointing.

Mikey is always in character.

Sam is always ready to strike a pose.

There was a 5k and the kids loved racing to the finish line over and over and over and over again.

Lucy also got in on the action, corn dog and all.

The night ended with a dance. All the kids got up on the stage but my boys were too scared/embarrassed, I don't know what so we danced in front on the grass. Finally Lucy wanted on the stage and she was so cute shaking her hips. The crowd started to thin out and then all the kids joined Lucy, even Conner who was ready to go home. They played Thriller and I begged Neil to get in front but he refused saying he didn't know it, that only his sisters did. Come on Hibberts. I think we all know he knew it at one time and if he would have just gotten out there it would have all come back to him. I loved seeing all my kids dancing. Conner cracks me up and Sam gets so into it. Mikey is pretty reserved and Lucy I just can't wait to put her in dance lessons. We had a lot of fun together as a family and Neil agrees he is glad that we went instead of staying home. I am also happy to report that the face paint came off with a soap and a lot of scrubbing. I was a little nervous about church tomorrow.

Lucy with her paint almost worn off. As we were driving home Conner wanted to know if there were any more Halloween activities planned for the month. You just wait my little pretty.
