Our Valentine's Day started out pretty funny. Connie's husband had an interview downtown and so they needed a babysitter for an hour. Since Neil is right there, he watched little Grace. He got the stroller and diaper bag out of the car, leaving his computer and work stuff inside along with his keys, locking them in. He called me and so after dropping off the kids at school I came home quickly to change Eliza's diaper and come to his rescue. I left my keys and phone in the van because I was going to be quick and got Eliza changed and put her back in the van and shut the door just to have our van doors lock automatically. You've got to be kidding me. I just about died. What's the chances of me locking my keys in the van as well. I know we have 2 sets of spare keys but the question is where. I'm really bad with keys. So the most obvious spot would be my desk but this is how my desk looked that day.
I did not have any luck there. Time was of the essence because I had to get to downtown and back to pick Mikey up from kindergarten besides I could hear Eliza screaming in the van. I knelt down and said a prayer and kept looking. After 10 minutes I remember finding a set about a week earlier when cleaning Lucy's closet and tossing them into her room. I went up to her room and what are the chances I'd find them in this mess.
As you can see, February's been quite the messy month. We did great in January but then things got out of hand in February, but it's all clean now. After searching for a couple minutes, I finally found some keys in the mess and we were on our way. I made it to Neil and got back with 5 minutes to spare. After this completely ridiculous start to our Valentine's I thought the rest of the day would go downhill but it didn't. The rest of the day was uneventful.Sam wanted to make a Pokemon Valentine's box so we decided on Pikachu. He made it himself and loved it. We also found some pokemon jokes that we attached to his candy for his valentines.
Conner had planned to make a cool lego box but ran out of time and just covered a box in white paper with a few decorations on it. I think since he's getting older he just wasn't that into it.
I had plans to make a fancy dinner but when the kids realized Valentine's Day was on Friday they insisted on heart shaped pizzas and love potion. Since it was much easier for me I went with it. We've done it for the last two years so I couldn't stray from tradition. Everyone wanted to get a picture with their pizza that they made.
After dinner we decided to surprise the kids by taking them to the Lego movie. Sam had made it very clear that he was the only kid in his class who had not seen it yet. We got them all loaded up and headed to Bountiful. It was killing the kids not to know where we were headed. As we pulled into the parking lot, I began to say how so and so was just so awesome and Neil joined in adding the word awesome to everything and the kids still didn't get it until we got out of the van and headed for the theater. Sam went crazy when he realized we were at the movies and going to see the Lego movie. They all loved it and Neil is already itching to go back. I held Eliza in the back most of the movie so I wasn't paying very close attention to the plot. Everything is Awesome has become our theme song and it is blasted throughout the house all the time.
