A Birthday Bash

I am so proud of myself.  One of my goals for the year is to invite new people over and so when I realized that two of the sisters I visit teach have the same birthday in February I decided I would host a little brunch in their honor and so today was the day.  My partner sewed them the cutest vintage bags.  Now I love to sew and I was blown away at her craftiness and she made them both in one day.  I was in charge of the food so I made these two yummy casseroles
blueberry-croissant-puff-plate
breakfast casserole sausage bacon eggs
along with yogurt parfaits and smoothies and then you can't have a party without some cake so I made these Toffee Crunch Cupcakes

Now these babies are a lot of work but so worth it in the end.
It's so funny. I hesitate having people over because my house is not "perfect", so far from it.  I stress about getting it clean enough and worry if they will notice a smell or all the marks on the walls, doors, carpets, etc?  Will they be grossed out?  I'm overcoming it and realizing people just like to feel special and the fact that I am trying to do just that hopefully makes up for all my other weaknesses.  We had a great visit and meal and I hope these two extraordinary ladies felt a little more special and loved during their birthday week.
