The Countdown Has Begun!

Finally the day we've been waiting for for a year has arrived.  It's October 1st, the beginning of our favorite holiday month, Halloween.  We got out the decorations yesterday and the kids helped put them up.  I stayed up til 11:30 and Neil stayed up much later and we're still not done.  It doesn't help that the house was already cluttered so adding decorating on top of that is a challenge.  The most anticipated decoration was displayed, the Halloween Countdown!  The kids went to bed excited to see what awaited them in the morning.  It was 7:30 and Conner was still not up and Mikey could not stand it any longer and made him get up with his blood shot eyes, messy hair and all.  Conner said Mikey forced him out of bed.  My poor sleepy Conner.  On the first day they got their new Halloween shirts and were all so excited to wear them.  Too bad Mikey couldn't but he can't wait to put it on when he gets home from school.

I think our second favorite decoration is the spooky skeleton I put in the back of the van.  How would you like to pull up behind that unexpectedly?  I've always been a little nervous that I'll get pulled over by the cops because it is obstructing my view somewhat.  I really don't need another ticket/charge on my record.  I bought this skeleton the first year we were married and have been using it ever since.  All these years and it still doesn't have a name.  We'll have to come up with one this year I think.
Another Halloween decoration I bought the first year we were married.  You know that's the case because I would never buy something so scary and gross now with kids.  They sure do love throwing it around and pretending it's their head.  Who do you think started that game.  Their daddy of course!

I was planning/hoping/praying I'd have the costumes done by now so I could enjoy the month.  I've had the material for a month now but low and behold I've only finished one.  Every time it's Mikey's turn for family prayer he prays that I will get them finished soon. He's a little worried and for good reason.  .Looks like I'll be sewing up until Halloween Eve as usual.  I guess why change now.  There's nothing like a little or a lot of pressure.
