We had parent/teacher conferences this week and got to meet with Conner's teacher. The first conference she had just had surgery and been out for awhile and was out of it so she didn't say too much about Conner but this time she just told us how amazed she is with him and his brightness. They had just done some testing and he is at a 4th grade level with his math and reading. He's right on par with his writing and that's what we could work on so he's more well-rounded. Since he's in school most the day I don't work with him very much anymore. He's just picking it up all his own. Since he's obsessed with video games I bought some computer games with math, reading and science to help him while he's off track. Mrs. Allen told him he better come visit her in 5 years. She wants to see where he's at. She said I wouldn't be surprised if he's going to college at 15. She talked about the gifted program that he can enter in the 3rd grade. To be accepted, it's done by testing so I've already been praying he gets in. It's an all day program where they are taught at their level, usually 1-2 grades above there current grade. I had a young woman in the program and she was brilliant. In her class they made inventions and she got invited to the Ellen Degeneres show for her kid invention. Only about 40 kids are accepted each year throughout the whole district so his chances are pretty slim.
We had planned on getting a wii this year but after borrowing the Wrides's we decided at least for now not to get one. If it is out, that's all he can think about and he is good for nothing. We only get it out once every two weeks because it affects him so much. I'm scared that if we had our own and it was hooked up that he would not reach his potential. We have to hide it in the house but he goes snooping for it and when he finds it he is always asking to play it.
