Alden Bahr Wedding Luncheon
Neil and I were able to attend Alden's wedding luncheon in the Joseph Memorial Building on December 22nd. Neil and I kept saying this is an important day for another reason but we couldn't put our finger on it. Well we found out. It was Francis and Louie Jean Bahr's wedding date. They were married 70+ years. Howard told the story that when his mom and dad were dating, Francis used all his money to buy Louie Jean a box of Whitman Samplers and then had no money left to get home to Idaho from Utah so he hitch hiked home. From then on, on every anniversay Francis bought Louie Jean a box of Whitman's Samplers. Even after Francis passed away, one of the sons brought Louie Jean chocolates on her anniversary. Howard gave Alden a box of Whitman's Samples and told him he had to keep up the 70 year tradition with his new bride. I was so glad that story was shared. It brought back a lot of memories. It was a very nice lunch and good to see many relatives. We were glad we were invited to attend.
