So we (I) decided to spend Valentine's attending RootsTech, a family history conference. Buy why? you might ask, am I a big family historian. That I am not but David Archuleta and Studio C were performing at the closing event and it was free so why not. Two of the most favorite names in our house under one roof. Total win win. The kids were so excited to meet Studio C as there was to be a signing. Even though we were mainly going for the entertainment, we were totally inspired by the speakers and classes and are excited to implement some simple ways of including family history in our daily lives.
So after the opening session we were off for the signing and the crowd was out of control. We followed the crowd up the stairs and the line was already huge but at the top of stairs it was roped off and it looked like the line ended so we just ducked under the ropes and got in line. We were so excited and had a great vantage point of the scene below. Well as we were talking to others in line we realized that we did not join the line at the end but actually the beginning. There was another room where you were supposed to line up in and then they brought you over to this line. Oops. I was feeling really guilty that we now had butted in line and we probably should have gotten out but if we got out there was no way we would have made the signing so we decided to stay. It was an honest mistake and as their was security around and no one stopped us we thought we were okay. The rules were you were only allowed one thing to sign and no selfies because it would hold up the line. The kids were so excited but as soon as we got up to the table to meet Studio C the kids were silent. They just handed them their picture and walked down the line. Conner was doing his kangaroo hop because he was so excited he could hardly stand it. Neil easily chatted away with the cast about our favorite sketches. Then we got to David and I clammed up. I didn't know what to say and finally just said how I really liked this one song and that it made me happy. Neil was thought this was pretty funny seeing me turn into a little school girl. Anyway Studio C did a lip sync contest, in the likeness of Jimmy Fallon and at the end David came out and did Van Halen's song Jump and of course he won. He sang 4 songs, including a new Spanish song he wrote for family search. It was so good and I can't wait for a real concert. Now I know what I've been saving my birthday money for.
After the conference we took the boys to Pizza Pie Cafe for dinner. Grandma and Grandpa Hibbert were nice to spend their watching the girls and they were pooped when we finally pulled into the garage.
