Fun Times & Craziness

We've had some fun times as a family.
We were able to go to a Journey concert with some of Neil's siblings.  It was fun singing along to the couple songs I knew.  It's crazy that their lead singer now, who is Fillipino, sounds just like the original guy.  I don't think he speaks a lot of English because he didn't talk much outside of singing.  At the end of the concert a bunch of confetti fell down.
Neil's work had a showing of Big Hero 6 in the conference center theater and since we had not seen it we went and loved it.  At the end, they dropped a ton of balloons filled with candy.  We were able to get our picture taken with a couple of characters from the movie.
When we were at Ryan's in November, we got funnel cakes at Knotts Berry Farm.  They were $10 bucks a pop so we just got 2 to share as a family and it wasn't enough.  We've all been craving them ever since.  So we finally made some for FHE topped with cherry pie filling and whipped cream.  Now that was treat and so tasty.

I was able to have a girl's night with Kate.  We went to Olive Garden, since it's both of our favorite, and stayed for over 4 hours talking but I swear it only seemed like 2.  They had to kick us out at 11:20 because we were the last ones in there.  We're so going to miss their family when they move.

I was also able to attend several conferences recently.  The first was the USU Extension sewing conference at Thanksgiving Point.  So much fun to be able to sew various projects for 2 days and talk with like minded women.  It really got me wanting to start on some projects again, but that means I would have to clean my room and the chances of that happening are slim to none.  I also went to an Early Childhood Conference at Weber State and got a lot of ideas how to help Lucy and Eliza.  The last was the FACS winter conference.  I love being able to attend conferences and stay up to date what is new in the field of education.  The thought of ever going back to teach is so daunting, all that has changed in 10 years and all that is expected of teachers.  The only thing that is hard is seeing all these women and the amazing things they are doing in their professions, communities and organizations and I do feel a little, what's the word, unimportant since I have made the choice to be at home with my kids.  It's definitely a sacrifice and not a whole lot praise happening in my neck of the woods and for a split second I second guess my choice and think about going back to teaching, but I know that really I am making the right choice and have confidence in that.  My kids are blessed because I am home.  Do I wish we had a second income to have nicer things, more times then I'd like to admit, but the key word is things.  Our needs are met on one income just not a whole lot of wants.

This winter has been crazy.  It only snowed twice.  Once on Christmas and then once in February I think.  The other crazy thing is that gas prices dropped.  The low was $1.74.  It lasted about a month and how in April they are back up to $2.37 but no where near $4 like last summer.  It's been really nice on our monthly budget.
