Christmas 2012

I off handedly told the kids on Christmas Eve I hope nobody comes in my room before 7 in the morning.  At 7 o'clock on the nose Conner comes bouncing into our bedroom.  I had been up since 5:30 because I couldn't sleep of excitement.  I got up and took a shower and got dressed.  I asked Conner how long he had been up and he said he woke up at 5 and had been trying to go back to sleep with no success.  Sam woke up a little while later with Mikey waking up at 7:30 and Lucy waking up at 7:45.  Before we went downstairs we read the Nativity story from the Bible and talked about Christ's birth and atonement.  The kids participated but I know their minds were elsewhere.  Neil had barricaded the stairs so they couldn't sneak a peek before it was time.
Here they are patiently waiting while we turn the lights on and get everything ready.

They all got lego sets from Santa so were busily putting them together for the first couple hours of the morning.  We started opening presents at 8 and ended at 7:30 that night.  We like to open a gift and play with it and then move on to the next one.  The Hibberts came up around 10 in the morning and then my parents came up about 4:30 and we had a nice ham dinner.  The first time I've cooked on Christmas for a couple of years.
We were blessed with quite a bit of snow so Papa wanted to go outside and watch the kids play with their new snow toys.  They were out there for about 4 hours.  They never get enough of it.  Neil also took them sledding.
Mikey's trying to build a snow fort with the block maker he got for Christmas.  They also got snowball makers which are pretty swift.

We had a great Christmas and are so thankful for our family and friends and the love we share with them.  We are so blessed.
