This was not the year for a friend party but Conner really wanted to have a Ninjago party and had come up with a lot of games and I caved. It's so hard to say no to such a sweet kid. I kept it low key and just invited 4 of the neighbor kids we play with a lot. I'm sad I didn't get more pictures of the games but I was too busy controlling all of the madness. It was pretty loud and intense.
Conner really wanted a pinata but the only ones I could find online were $35 plus shipping. That wasn't going to happen so I decided to try to make my own out of paper mache. I know it's just a simple sphere but I was so proud of that pinata I made. I think it turned out great and it only cost me $1.
A couple of minutes before the party started Neil disappeared and came back down dressed as a ninja master. We had not discussed this so it was a complete spontaneous surprise and he added a lot of fun to the party. I wish we had discussed it and I could have made him a costume but oh well. I don't think my kids realize what a fun and great dad they've got.
For Conner's cake I made a buttercream frozen transfer. It was my first attempt and I forgot to measure the cake so the eyes were a little too big for the cake but once it thawed it wrapped around the cake nicely. It's definitely the way to go when decorating a cake and can't wait to try it again.
