Sammy has been so excited for his birthday for weeks now and the fact that it finally arrived was surreal. Because it was his birthday he got to do whatever he wanted which meant playing on the computer, watching tv and riding his bike all day long. All he wanted for breakfast was pancakes. That's too easy. For lunch he got his free kids meal from Sonic and rubbed it in everyone's faces that he got a slush. His original dinner menu consisted of about 10 things but luckily I persuaded him into just having pizza, or I should say galactic pizza and Yoda soda.
Sam really wanted a party but he's off track so I was not able to get invitations to his school friends so we decided we'd have a cousin party which in reality was about all I could handle. Grandma Hibbert brought up Hyrum, Wesley, Abby and Conner Smart and then Deet came with Jaxson and Presley. I have been fretting over the games for days. Even though it was a family party and low key I still wanted it to be fun. We had decided on a training academy with some outside games but today when I heard it was probably going to rain in the evening I had to quickly come up with some other things. I had seen the light sabers made out of pool noodles all over the internet as I searched but thought they were lame and planned on just using our real light sabers but about 2 hours before everyone was supposed to arrive I realized that the kids would probably get hurt with the real light sabers and ran to the Dollar Store and bought some and the kids each made their own and they were definitely the hit of the night. That would have kept them entertained the whole night.
Here the kids are all ganging up on the Sith Lord Neil.
Everyone eating their Galactic Pizza and drinking their Yoda Soda.
For one of the games the kids had to keep their balloon in the air and not let it touch the ground with only their light sabers. It was too easy so once again the Sith Lord Neil attacked and began hitting everyone's balloons all over the room.
We had wanted to do a Death Star pinata but once again at the last minute never got around to making one out of paper mache and I refused to spend $10+ on something that was just going to get beaten up. I remembered that we had a ghost pinata in the garage that I got for free that had been waiting for a Halloween party that never happened. I tore off the face and tried to make it look like a storm trooper. I was proud of myself. That's as crafty as I get.
Wesley showing off his candy fangs.
Sammy was happy with all his presents. After it's all said and done Neil and I always feel like we give them too much for their birthdays but I justify it because the only time we buy them gifts is birthdays and Christmas and maybe something small for Valentine's and Easter.
Lucy showing off her bucky bunny teeth. Too bad the picture is overexposed.
I really wanted to make Sam a light saber cake out of fondant and Linda was going to help me but Sam saw a picture of the above cake as I was searching for ideas and had his heart set on it. It's the battle on Mustafar. It was an easy cake to make so that was good. We had smoke coming out from under R2D2 but it was gone before we took the picture.
