Wicked Birthday Weekend

On Friday, April 17th Neil and I and Beka went to see the musical Wicked at the Capitol Theater in Salt Lake. We'd seen it once in LA and totally loved it and were so excited. I hate to say it but we were a little disappointed. The show was great but I guess because the theater was smaller it just didn't seem as grandiose and we had forgotten the binoculars which would have really helped. I still loved it and am still singing the songs a week and a half later.
Alli and her kids came into town that weekend as well and Jaxson stayed with us the whole weekend and Conner and Sam loved it. Sam just adores Jack and they played so well together, rarely fought except when they got tired. I think Jaxson is now addicted to trains too.

We had Sam's 3rd birthday party on Saturday, April 18th. We were never planning on having one but he insisted so we couldn't say no to our Sam. We just invited his cousins over for a Thomas the train party. We decorated the driveway with train tracks and had a sign on the door with streamers and Sir Topham Hat was ready to greet them and take their ticket upon arrival.

Neil played the part well.

We played Musical Caboose, where the kids passed the Thomas pillow around in a circle and the one left holding it when the music (Thomas theme song) stopped was out. We also played pin the caboose on Thomas.
The kids took turns seeing who kid fill the tender up with the most coal.
And we had train races. I must say I am pretty proud of the trains being as I made them. Neil never got around to it so it fell into my hands, which could have been scary. We had Thomas, Percy and James.
Sam didn't want to race, he just wanted to pretend to be Thomas. It's his party, he can do whatever he wants.
Sam with the rest of his Thomas trains. I think he has 34 total Thomas and Friends trains now. They are definitely an investment and probably the one toy we will keep for our grandkids to play with.
Blowing out his 3 candles on his Thomas cake. It took 3 times to get them all. Neil decorated the cake.

Sammy eating his yummy cake.

Grandma and Grandpa Hibbert definitely spoil the kids on their birthdays!

Thanks Nana and Poppa, wish you could have been here.

Ever since Sam was born, I have often said, "What would I do without my Sam." and it's the truth. He is such a fun little boy to have around and such a cute one at that (in person, pictures just don't him justice). He just loves life and gets so excited about anything and is very animated. I love that he loves trains. Today I just drove around for 30 minutes in a train yard and he was in heaven and just kept exclaiming, "A train, another train!" He gives the best hugs and kisses and loves treats. He climbs into bed with me every morning and for the most part I love it. My little snuggle bug.

What a fun birthday party for a fun little 3 year old. I sure wish we were next door neighbors. Oh well, maybe in heaven. :)

Wow, you are creative!! I love Sir Topham Hat. Nate would have had a BLAST!! He is another Thomas fan. When we go to the children's museum here in Indy, there is a spot with a Thomas track and trains all set out. I don't have to wonder where he is, because he spends his time there. Tell the family hi.
