Sam's Potty Training
I don't push my kids to be potty trained I just encourage it. After cleaning up yucky underwear, I decided I'll wait until they take the bait. Conner was easy. He was 3 1/2 I think and I knew he was ready so for a week I told him, "Conner when these diapers are gone I'm not buying anymore and I didn't and he began to wear underwear and never had an accident. Sam is another story. He was scared of the potty and refused to sit on it but when he turned 3 all of sudden something clicked and he wanted to go potty. The first time he was playing and told me, "Mommy, I need to go potty" and proceeded to go upstairs to bathroom and go by himself. I was so excited, thinking this is it. I put underwear on him but he didn't keep them clean. I'm not big on pull-ups and never used them with Conner but realized Sam did great keeping dry just had problems with his bm's so I bought the pull-ups. The last 5 days he's kept his pull-up clean and dry with only one accident. I am thrilled. I can't believe how easy it has been. Sam will even go by himself and not tell me until afterwards. I'm keeping the pull-up on him the rest of the week and if it goes well we'll switch to real underwear.
This is a picture after Sam went potty by himself. He was so proud and came downstairs to put his shorts back on by himself and you can see what happened. He went to take a step down the stairs and couldn't move his legs and plummeted. We couldn't help but laugh. It was pretty funny.
