FHE Easter Lesson

Tonight I gave the FHE lesson on the true meaning of Easter--Christ's Resurection. I borrowed the lesson Connie used last year to tell the story through an Easter egg hunt. It went really well and at the end I bore my testimony of Christ and just began to cry. It really hit me, the gift we have all been given and I am thankful I was able to share that with my family. After our lesson we made the traditional bunny cake. I remember making this growing up for bake sales, YW, you name it and we made them. My fluffy white frosting didn't turn out (nothing I make that you have to use a thermometer for turns out, that's why I don't make candy), a sticky mess but it still tasted good and made the bunnies look good. We all made miniature ones so we could have our own to eat and not share.

Today Sam and Mikey had their checkups, which I always dread because I have to take all three (3 boys in a tight confined space for usually over an hour with little amusement , not a good idea). I expected them to be pretty rotten but they were awesome and so cute. The doctor must have told me about 4 times how cute they were. Conner sat in the corner with his calculator, tablet, and pen and wrote problems down to solve and added and subtracted the numbers most of the time and checked them with the calculator. Every now and then he'd tell the doctor what he was doing. When I put Mikey up on examination table Conner jumped up and ran over and exclaimed, "Isn't he just such a cutie, our baby!". Yep Mikey's pretty cute. Sam was more than eager to show off how smart he was and kept stating facts about things he saw or could do. Instead of a sticker at the end of the session, the doctor gave each of the examinees a book, nice hard back ones so we were all thrilled. I loved that. Mikey did have to have an EKG where they stuck 12 stickers to his chest and abdomen and then attached probes to them. By this time he was ready to go and did scream. The doctor thought he might have an irregular heartbeat and wanted to check for sure. I missed the call tonight but being as she didn't say call me back but that she would get in touch with me tomorrow, everything should be just fine. I'm glad they did it. I'd rather be safe than sorry and find out something is wrong years down the road.
After the doctor I dragged the kids to five stores. They are such good sports. They are so used to running errands they don't mind anymore especially because after such a big run they always get a reward and today was lunch at Artic Circle where they got to play in the play place. It was a smaller one but perfect for Mikey. They even got free ice cream cones to make the stop even better.

I'm glad I gave you a copy of that. I also ended up with the three littlest kids in the doctors office today while Cindy was checked out. I swear Jared has some kind of claustrophobia. He freaks out in Dr. offices, elevators, or other small enclosed places. Then I had to go to Walmart and Jared screamed the whole time he was in the cart. I ignored him the whole time because he was irrational and you should have seen the looks I was getting. I think the tears in my eyes and ragged look I had today kept anyone from saying anything rude to my face.

You're such a good Mom - love the bunny cakes and the picture of all of you. And I love the story of the check-up visit - Conner is going to be a scientist or something, what a smarty pants! Cute story
