I have two new goals. The first is to have fish at least every other week. I'd like to try every week but that's a little much since I'm not a huge seafood fan, I like it about four times a year but that's about it. Three reasons I don't make it is because I don't really know how to prepare it other than frying it. I don't like any meat if it's not seasoned. It needs to be marinated or rubbed or something to be divine so I haven't had much luck except with salmon, which I am sick of because that's the only fish we did eat since I had several yummy recipes for it. Another reason is when I was pregnant with Conner and each pregnancy thereafter I had a huge aversion to seafood. I would start gagging at just the thought. It was bad so for the past 5 years I haven't eaten much because I remember how sick I would get. Third it is so expensive. I'll spend $8 and only have enough for one meal, no leftovers sad. What's the change of heart? Neil loves seafood. My parents eat a lot of fish, a couple times a week, and my mom prepares it in many different ways. While we were there she made some and it was so good. I thought I need to do this for Neil. The other reason I want to make this change is my boys love sausage, any kind. Jimmy Dean, Hickory Farms, Hillshire Farms, hot dogs. They would eat it every day. Thank goodness I bought a ton of Hickory Farms summer sausage (Thanks Connie!) when it was on clearance to last a year and the boys will eat a whole stick for a snack between the 3 of them. I serve sausage at least every two weeks and I know it is probably one of the worst things we can eat so I need something to counteract it.
The other goal is to wear lipstick when I leave the house. I don't wear a lot of makeup and usually very little if any when I'm running errands so needless to say, I'm not much to look at. In GA I put on some lipstick and I got several comments about how it really brightened my face. I used to always wear lipstick but I've thought my lips are pretty pink to begin with so I just started wearing gloss. (Real reason: I ran out of my favorite lipstick and nowhere else sold it near by, Merle Norman, but when I was in GA there is was. I should have stocked up) So I hope to wear it now if nothing more and hopefully people won't think of me as another tired, frazzled, frumpy stay-at-home mom when I'm out running to 10 different stores.
