I really wanted to get away for Thanksgiving this year so we headed to Ryan and Heather's in California. They just bought a house so we were excited to visit and see it.
Nana bought all the girls matching jumpers. They say 5 little monkeys on them.
The kids spent so much time on this play set. It was kind of amazing. Ryan said he definitely got his money worth out of it on just this weekend.
We had to make our traditional turkey sugar cookies although most ended up not looking like turkeys.
Eliza was always playing in the kitchen.
His third serving of food. We had a delicious meal and I must say I was pretty happy with my turkey. It turned out so moist. The white meat was actually moister than the dark. Go figure.
Being as we were in Southern California, we had to go to an amusement park and being as Knotts Berry farm is the cheapest we went there. We went on Black Friday. Big Mistake. It was packed. We would wait in line for an hour for one ride. At about 6 o'clock, Heather was an angel and took all the little kids home and Neil, Ryan, me, Conner and Mikey stayed and rode rides until it closed at 10. Now that was fun. I love rides and even Ryan is up for roller coasters now.
We also went to Newport Beach and although the water was freezing you couldn't keep the kids or Neil out.
My twinner. Not even planned.
I think the most memorable event was when I put my contacts in. I grabbed a travel size bottle of solution or so I thought. When I put my first contact in my eye just started stinging and hurting so bad I couldn't even open it. I tried to get the contact out but it was stuck. I felt like it was acid, eating my eye away. I was scared I was going to go blind. I was screaming bloody murder and everyone wondered what in the world was going on. When they came to check on me one look from the red eyed demon explained it all. I didn't grab solution but some peroxide stuff. Oh boy it was awful. Neil had used the same stuff so he rinsed his contacts really well before putting them in but they still burned him too. I felt so bad but glad someone else had felt my pain.
On Saturday Neil and Ryan went to play a turkey bowl. They were on the same team with Ryan as quarterback. They had played for a couple hours and the game was tied so they decided the next team to score would win. Ryan planned a play and threw it to someone who didn't get it but Neil ended up being right there and caught the ball and ended up making the winning touchdown. It was a Thanksgiving miracle. It's so funny to hear Ryan retell the story.
It was so nice to be around my family this Thanksgiving. It's always a bunch of laughs when Ryan and Allison get together. I loved that I never saw Lucy. Her, Presley and Sienna were like the three musketeers and were off playing outside most of the time. I sometimes forgot they were even there. It makes me happy to see them friends with their cousins. Heather and Ryan were such great hosts. It was such a nice break and can't wait until we're together again at Christmas.
