Super Saturday
Neil's taking a nap so I'm able to steal a few minutes to add a few posts on his work computer. We had planned to go to the Roy Aquatic Center today but it is too cold. We've been slackers and have not cleaned up the house in 3 days because we've been gone every night so it was in disaster mode. Neil and I just dreaded cleaning and nagging the kids to help so we decided to make a deal with them. They love Menchies so we said that if they can clean the entire house in 2 hours we would all go get a treat. We really didn't think we could get it done it was that bad. Neil gave them a 20% success rate. The kids were so excited so we set the timer, turned the music on and had a family huddle giving a cleaning cheer and we were off. Everything got cleaned: all the floors were mopped or vacuumed, all toilets scrubbed, sinks cleaned, tubs/showers scoured, beds made, rooms and closets cleaned up and toys put away, etc. It looks awesome! We were all so hot and sweaty Menchies was a great reward. It's fun to work together as a family toward a goal. I've never seen the kids move so fast. The best part is we have the rest of the day to do whatever we want. I do need to catch up on the laundry since I'll be gone next week at a conference so that stinks. Neil and Grant took Linda out to dinner last night for a late Mother's Day/Birthday gift and he had a great time talking and was with them until about 10. But then he's applying for some new positions at work and needed to spruce up his resume so he went back to work and worked on that until 3am so he is taking a much needed nap right now. The church has reorganized Neil's department and dissolved 5 departments and made them into one so everyone has to reapply for their positions or try to get a new one. They said there would not be any layoffs but you never know so we're a little up in the air and it's a little unsettling. Neil is definitely a go getter and is trying to get his name out there and show his skills and what he has to offer. All I can say is that I'm so glad I don't work. I would hate having to be so assertive. It stresses me out. I am more than happy to stay at home with kids and play all day.
Well Satuday did not end very super. Looks like I got food poisoning and have been puking my guts out for 4 hours. I have such violent pains. I think I got it from eating Neil's leftovers that sat out for 6 hours last night.
On a better note I inherited grandma bahr's hope chest. It's up in my room and I plan to put my sewing projects in them as well as all the clothed I have in a pile for repurposing. That will make my room neater. We also got a much needed bookshelf that grandpa made.

I feel your pain with the food poisoning--I got it from some strawberries and cream last month from the Strawberry Days rodeo. My first time with full blown food poisoning. I woke up around 1 am and threw up just about every hour until about 10 am that day. YUCK!
