The Mind of a 5 Year Old

We have some interesting discussions during family scripture study as we try to explain them to the kids on their level. One night we ended up talking about the preexistence and how Christ had a plan and Satan had a plan. Christ would allow us to choose and Satan would force us to make right choices but since we are here on earth we knew we followed Jesus. Sam looked at Neil and I with a puzzled look on his face and asked us if we were sure we had followed Jesus since we forced him to do stuff all the time like clean his room and go to bed like Satan would have done. He cracks me up. Then tonight we were reading about how we can't take our possessions with us when we die and Sam got so sad and was crying on the verge of hysteria. We asked him what was wrong and he said he wanted to take his soft T-Rex with him to heaven because if he didn't he'd have bad dreams. Neil tried to explain how it didn't have a spirit and that he wouldn't have bad dreams in heaven but the more he talked the worse it got. Finally Neil said, Sam just think you may be able to have your own real baby T-Rex in heaven and this threw Sam over the top and he was wailing. When asked what was wrong this time he replied no it would not be fun to have a real baby T-Rex because when it got big it would just eat him. And then Conner chimes in well if it's wicked in heaven and doesn't repent it'll just be thrust down to hell. I felt so bad for laughing so hard but it was too funny. He's got so much to learn but his little brain just can't grasp it yet. Oh my little sweet, overly dramatic Sam.

Only in your house!! Sam is so funny! I can just see those big blue eyes filled with tears as he thought of little T-Rex growing up and eating him.

That made me laugh out loud! "Um, Mom, Dad, you guys are doing what Satan wanted to do, just so you know..." That is too funny
