4th of July Celebrations!

We got up and went to the Layton parade. To me the 4th is all about parades, swimming and BBQ's so we tried to do just that. Once again as the service men and woman walked by I got choked up. Their families sacrifice so much on our behalf. They are some good people. I don't know how I would do not having Neil around for months at a time.

Lucy our little firecracker.

Getting ready to catch some candy

Lucy was so hot and red in the face.

After the parade we tried to make it to the theater to see Cars 2 but it was sold out so we went to Iceberg for lunch and then caught the next showing. It was a cute movie of what I saw of it. Lucy was tired and did not want to be there. I walked the hall with her to tire her out and when I'd had it and gave her to Neil he picked her up and she went right to sleep. After the movie we went home to try to catch a little sleep. After a nap we bbq'd some hotdogs and hamburgers with all the fixin's and ate our American cake. My first time making a flag cake.

I thought it only appropriate to sing Happy Birthday to America and blow out some candles. The kids were more than happy to oblige. After dinner the plan was to go to the Clearfield Aquatic Center for some fun in the sun but it was closed and the boys were so disappointed. Like my mom always says, "You make your own fun." So I told the kids to not be sad but instead we were going to have our own water party at our house. Everything at our house is a party (slumber, pajama, popcorn, pizza, movie, etc. party) So we filled all the balloons we could find and had a water balloon fight and then we just started filling buckets with water and throwing them on each other. The boys had a really fun time after all and it didn't cost a thing.

On your marks, get set, GO!

Lucy didn't want anything to do with the water so she just sat on her perch and watched.

After our water fight we got dried off and dressed and went to get a good spot to see the fireworks. As we drove around Neil saw a hill where lots of people were sitting and decided that that spot would make for the ultimate fireworks watching experience. So to the kids dismay we climbed the mountain. The boys were so scared because it was dark and steep. We waited a good 45 minutes before the show began and the boys just whined the whole time. It could have ruined the whole night but once the show started they were silent. It was awesome because we could see fireworks all over the valley. We not only got to see Layton's show but Kaysville's and Clearfield's and all the random ones in between. It was great. We got home about midnight again.

On the hill top. You can kind of see the anxiety on Conner's face

We got back too late on the 4th to do Sparklers so we did them on the 5th. Boy do the kids think they are the coolest. We invited our neighbors over to join in on the fun.

Look at those eyes!

Let freedom ring!
