The kids haven't had friend parties for a couple years so we said this year they could. We decided he could invite 5 friends (because that is how many can fit in our van) and we'd go to the trampoline park. Sam was down with that but had a hard time narrowing it down to just 5.
Birthday dinner: fried chicken, not as good as Nana's he made sure to let me know.
He wanted a chocolate cake but this is the first year he didn't want it decorated with a character. What a relief but that's a sign he's maturing. I like it but then I don't.
Sam does have some good friends. These kids already talk about serving missions and being roommates at BYU when they are older. I was surprised he invited Hazel, the only girl but he said, "Hey she's like a boy and besides she's fun!"
He really wanted a pinata and instead of making one I found one on clearance at Walmart for $3. Totally worth it.
We had 2 hours to jump at the jump park and everything was going great until about half way through Sam jumped funny and his knee hurt. He was in tears and could hardly walk. He doesn't take well to pain and was a mess. Hazel was so sweet and stayed with him while he rested. He eventually was able to get up but never able to jump again. We may have to get it checked out on Monday to make sure all is okay. All in all Sam had a great party!
On Friday he got to celebrate at school and so I bought donuts for his class. Sam was so excited for his day that he got in the van 20 minutes early. Shortly there after Eliza joined them. Well Sam eventually left to come inside and guess who saw an opportunity. With no one to stop her she opened and chow downed on those donuts, eating 4. Sam was heart broken. Luckily there's a Walmart on the way to school so I was able to get some more. The girls and I also joined Sam for lunch bringing him Dairy Queen. His one request was a pineapple sundae.
Sam is such a good kid. I always say Sam is the full package. He's smart, fun but yet very compassionate. He is growing up and starting to get an attitude with us at times but we are trying to nip that in the bud and he always apologizes. I've always said since he was born, what would we do without our Sam. He's definitely a keeper.
