A couple of years ago my mom bought all the girls in the family matching mumus. They are tacky but we love them and wear them all the time. Once again Mikey and I were snuggling in bed talking and he told me that he doesn't like my blue shirt and he wished I wouldn't wear it. I was confused and asked him which shirt he didn't like and he said the one with flowers on it and I wore it all the time. He said it was ugly and it scared him. It dawned on me he was talking about the mumu. When I was wearing it the next morning he was in shock and told me to take it off and that he had already told me not to wear it again. Yes sir! I don't see what's so scary about it.
I've started potty training Lucy. I'm not pushing her just encouraging so it's goint to be a long process. Some days she does pretty good but once she starts having accidents, the diaper goes back on. She's pretty independent about it and will often not tell me she has to go and will just go herself. Well one day she came in my bedroom where I was working bawling with no pants on and a bare bottom. I couldn't understand what she was saying so I told her to show me. She took me to the bathroom and kept pointing in the toilet. In the toilet was her poop and so I thought it must have been painful and tried to comfort her which made her mad. She kept pointing in the water and so I looked harder and there in her poop was the purple piece of gum she obviously swallowed three days previous. She wanted it! Gross. I laughed so hard and quickly flushed the toilet which really set her off. I gave her some candy for going poop on her own but was just so thankful she hadn't reached in that toilet and pulled out her gum and started chewing it.
Neil and I were pretty tuned in to the election and so the boys got into a little too. We went and voted early and when we got back Sam asked who I voted for and when I said Romney he began to wail, which is not unlike him. When I asked why he was so upset he said if Romney wins there will no longer be PBS kids on tv. You know the whole Big Bird comment during the debate. I laughed so hard at this. A little 6 year olds perception of the candidates. I can totally understand why not having PBS would be devastating to him. We don't have cable so the only kids shows are on PBS so if that was gone the little bit of media they get to watch would end.
