1st Day of Kindergarten

Traditional 1st day of school picture outside the front door.
Conner wanted to wear his orange shirt, his favorite color. Gives him a little boost of confidence I think.

Picked out his back pack because it had some numbers on it.

His teacher and most of the class.

The Lincoln Lynx was out to give al the little ones a high five on their first day of school.

Today was Conner's first real day of kindergarten. We have to leave the house by 8:15 am to get him there on time walking so I was a little nervous about that. It means no more snuggling in the bed with the boys til 8 am like we've been doing. Conner was excited and usually complains about walking because he gets so tired but today we told me he didn't get tired. When we got to his room he hung up his backpack and walked right in and sat down on the rug. I am so excited for him and couldn't be happier that he's in school. He was so ready for it and getting bored at home. I am so excited he's going to learn so many things and be exposed to things I probably wouldn't be able to. He's going to love it. The only thing I'm concerned about is half the class is minority which is a really high percentage. The class next door, which was my first pick and has the Teacher of the Year, only had one. Now being an educator myself, that's just not fair to the teacher but oh well. I just worry about Conner socializing and if he'll be able to make friends in his class. There is one little boy from his preschool class last year so that's good. Last night I went to the dollar store because I didn't want Sammy to feel bad on Conner's special day and bought him 2 new puzzles (kid absolutely loves them and is so good at them) and coloring books and crayons and on the way home told him. He was so excited. We spent most of the morning doing puzzles and coloring, even Mikey. I was thinking I could get used to this having only 2 kids at home. It was so nice. I needed some structure to our life after having none with summer and now it's been forced upon us. We went and got Conner at 11:30 and had lunch and then naps. Nice. It's going to be a great year!

I am so glad you posted! It was really fun to read about Conner's first day. I hope to see some pictures from Ryan's fabulous wedding!

Wow!! I can't believe he's in school already! Reuben doesn't start until the 19th or something of August. You made me feel better about it too, I'm so nervous.

I only have two at home now too. It's so much quieter with Graigry gone for half the day. I love the kids, but shopping with just two instead of three is such a breeze! Graigry also has a car backpack. Our school has "uniforms" which means certain color shirts and pants. Graigry looks great in his outfits and hasn't complained much about getting up. It is also helping him get into a normal bedtime routine, which is also great for the parents. :)
