Fine Arts Night

The boys got to participate in their school's Fine Arts Night.  Each grade sang a couple songs and then we got to walk through the school to see some of the art work they've done this year.  Once a month, they get an art lesson and it's pretty cool the techniques they learn.

I got to volunteer in Mikey's class for this project.  It took all day and was pretty amazing.  I don't find myself being very artistic so to be able to sit in on this lesson with an actual artist was wonderful.  I feel like I could maybe just maybe try to paint a butterfly myself.  It was so cool to see the kids start with a blank canvas and create their masterpiece.  They did it all themselves, except for the black lines at the very end were done by the artist.
Although I loved seeing the kids perform and artwork the highlight of the night was getting a waffle from the Waffle Love truck!  I have heard about these waffles for over a year and have been hoping that fate would intervene and I'd be able to taste one of them.  The stars finally aligned and tonight was the night.  Now these aren't cheap.  I actually spent $9 on this creation, being as it may be my only chance for another year, I thought I would go big and it was worth every penny.  The whole family shared it and enjoyed it.  Of course I immediately got online to find a copy cat recipe.  They are special yeast waffles made with a special sugar that costs $7 a batch.  Sure beats the $9 for one waffle so I'm going to break down pretty soon and try to make my own.

I did the same thing to find the recipe. My girls want to go every Wednesday when the truck is here and I'm like Heck no! I don't even spend that kind of money on myself! Much less you jokers!
