Our Sweet Sam or as his first grade teacher Ms. Moulton calls him, Kind and Gentle Sam turned 7 on April 11th. I wish I got as excited about birthdays as my kids did. Sam was so excited to get presents. Grandma Hibbert had pity on me since I was still recovering from having a baby and volunteered to make Sam's birthday cake. I am so glad she did. She pulled out all the stops and now I'm afraid the kids will never ask me to make a birthday cake again for them. Linda was an art major in college and thought of the cake as an art project instead of cake decorating. She's got some fondant skills. Sam wanted a Ninjago party so she made his cake into the white ninja. As you can see below it was so awesome and huge!
On his actual birthday we were only able to eat the feet and legs and so we just wrapped it up and frosted the exposed cake with frosting and served it at his friend's party a few days later and those kids were pretty impressed with the cake as well.
Sam really wanted a power ranger sword and both Grandma's came through after much searching. He is in heaven but poor Mikey would have liked one too and had a hard time that night.
Sam also has wanted to learn to play guitar for awhile now so he finally has his own. If he really does show true interest we'll upgrade to a better one.
On Saturday, after soccer games, 7 of his class mates came over for his Ninjago party. What was I thinking having a birthday party with 11 kids, and rowdy boys at that. Usually we feel guilty about our kids getting so many presents but when everyone had left Neil said I don't feel guilty this time after having to deal with that chaos for 2 hours. It was fun though and Sam loved every minute of it. I was glad to get to know more of the boys Sam's friends with at school.
Getting ready to play pin the beard on Sensi Wu. We also had one of our famous pinatas and played ninja pop and skeleton bowling.
Spring soccer has started up again which means we are busier than ever. I haven't been able to make it to a game yet because of Eliza but this coming week is the week. I love watching the boys play.
With the warmer weather comes the sidewalk chalk as well as bikes and scooters and water guns. The kids absolutely love playing outside. We've got to get our trampoline up. I am so excited to finally have one.
