I Am Smarter

Conversation with Sam this morning.
"Mommy can I play on computer please."
I think oh boy here we go again, the fight of my life right now. "No Sweetie, it's not computer day."
"Oh please, please just a little bit."
"No Sam, we're not playing on the computer today. I want you to get smart and playing on the computer too much doesn't make you very smart."
"But I am smart."
"I know you are Sam but I want you to be smarter."
"I am smarter."
"Sam, let's read some books instead so you get smarter."
"I can read! I can read like Conner!"
"You can? What books can you read."
"I can read Railroad Toad all by myself."
He proceeds to go upstairs and finds the book and proceeds to read (recites from memory) the whole thing. He was so proud of himself. This is the first real book Sam has memorized. It amazes me how kids can memorize books and I'm the one reading them and never do. I remember Conner memorizing so many books and I'm glad to see Sam is too. He is a smart little guy. I always worry that he'll always be compared to Conner who excels in academics right now. I know I'm always thinking, shouldn't you be able to tell time by now or add or something. Conner did. He's mentioned before that I'm not good at numbers like Conner and gets sad but I tell him he's good at other things that Conner's not like puzzles and he knows that is true and it makes him happy.

I was having the same daily fight with Jared and the Wii. Now he only can plat on Friday. He learned the days of the week so fast and now he always knows what day of the week it is and how many days until Friday. I loved looking at all your pics. Your hair looks so great. I REALLY need to make an appointment with Allison. Bad.

You have cute boys!

We always have fights about playing the wii or the computer (which my kids never get to do because I'm mean) they also don't watch TV but It's because they are punks when they do those things and they are infinitely better when they don't.
